This is Max Factor's first refillable mascara and as far as I'm aware it's the only such mascara in local drugstores. This makes it quite a big tube, since they had to fit in the refill that's close to a size of a regular mascara without a cap and it has more weight to it too. The outer casing looks more premium than an average mascara in the drugstore and feels like it will survive a long time before showing signs of wear. As far as I know there's only a regular version of the formula - pity, since it's the type of formula that doesn't suit my lashes well, but it's one of the more volumising formulas on the market.

The silicone brush has an hourglass design that is very similar to the one at Milani's Anti Gravity mascara. Freshly opened this was an overly wet formula that quickly made the lashes stick together, so I let this one sit in the drawer for a few months, waiting for it to thicken and dry a bit. It got better, but it's still not the best performer for my type of lashes. It creates a lot of volume even with the first coat - this really gives that big lash effect, but it has a tendency to stick the lashes together if you don't wait between coats or build it up too much - the sticking lessens when it's several months old.

It's doesn't hold the lashes curled, like most regular mascaras it drops freshly curled lashes like most. Strangely it's very difficult to remove, like waterproof formulas, meaning it needs oil. My normally great performance cleanser Nuxe Very Rose oil struggles with it, so a good dual-phase oil remover is needed. It runs in contact with tears and it irritated my eyes on a couple of occasions, it's also somewhat oily, so my glass lenses are constantly smudged (this won't be an issue for most).

The refill pops out easily, so replacement is not difficult. The volume and length it creates is great, this is a good choice if you love big lashes, but since it tends to smudge my glasses, I prefer to reach for Max Factor's 2000 Calorie instead (that one is less volumising than this one FYI).
